A F Harrold to star at Lewes Pint of Poetry on Friday 24 October

The next gig at Lewes Pint of Poetry, at the Lewes Arms, Lewes, East Sussex, will be on Friday, 24 October 2008 - starring the superb A F Harrold.

His gig will mark the start of the club's second season.

Lewes audiences have already been wowed by great performances from legendary performance poet Attila the Stockbroker, Birmingham Poet Laureate Dreadlockalien, and spoken word circuit star Rachel Pantechnicon.

Tickets can be reserved on the Oliver's Poetry website at www.oliverspoetry.com.

For more information about Lewes Pint of Poetry, to reserve tickets or to book open spots, email Oliver!

Notes:

1. Entry to the gig will be £5.

2. Ollie (a.k.a. Joe) Wilson previously created and ran the cult stand-up comedy club Joe's Comedy Madhouse in London for eight years.

The club gave comedy breaks and valuable stage time to top comedians including Jimmy Carr, If.comeddies winner Phil Nichol, Perrier Award winner Danny Kitson, and Stephen Merchant (Ricky Gervais's writing partner and co-star in The Office and Extras).

Joe's Comedy Madhouse was featured in a book penned by Sunday Times columnist A. A. Gill.

* Before launching Lewes Pint of Poetry, Oliver said: "When I attended the tremendous poetry events of Lewes Live Lit last year, I thought how wonderful it would be for Lewes to have its own monthly live performance poetry club.

"Lewes Pint of Poetry will feature the finest in performance and published poets from around Britain and abroad, as well as open mic spots for local and visiting poets."

Oliver, whose own poetry performances include gigs in Oxford, Birmingham, Leicester and Leamington, is Lewes Pint of Poetry's resident compere as well as promoter of the club.

"I'd like to see a real mixture of comic and serious material," he added.
