Image of blue painting

January Blue

Five days in - it's a curse
so bored, though there's tons to do
even writing seems a chore
January Blue

Is it loneliness or lust
that makes me yearn for you?
but it's no time for fun
January Blue

Ceaseless exercise and no booze
the good things are utterly through
for the next few weeks
January Blue

I've lost a stone and a half
while still feeling full
of angst - it's no laugh-
ing matter - January Blue

Motionless legs of lead
soaked in sand and glue
my sober head is fit to burst
January Blue

This wretched month in its death throes
life - God knows I've missed you!
bring on booze, curries and wild nights out
Get Ye Behind Me, January Blue!
